
Chelsea Boyd Brown, Ballet
Chelsea is a dancer, teacher, choreographer, nature-enthusiast, and activist who recently moved to the San Francisco Bay Area from Maryland.
She recently worked with PearsonWidrig DanceTheater, Heart Stück Bernie, and creates her own work.Chelsea teaches modern and ballet in the Bay Area, and teaches dance at two elementary schools. In Maryland, Chelsea worked for Anne Arundel County's Performance and Visual Arts Program (PVA) teaching high school students across many disciplines, including music, creative writing, and dance.
Chelsea also offers private lessons in a variety of dance genres. In May 2016, she received a dual degree in Dance and Psychology from the University of Maryland, College Park. She has attended many Dance/Movement Therapy (DMT) conferences and workshops and plans to become DMT certified. In 2015, Chelsea conducted DMT research with Spanish-speaking children in Washington, D.C. and Los Andes, Guatemala. Her findings stressed the importance of a secure attachment style when measuring how we relate to others and learn new information.Chelsea's choreography was performed at the John F. Kennedy Center as part of the American Dance Association's National Gala in 2014. In 2016, Chelsea was commissioned by Dance Place to create a new work for the annual Choreographer's Showcase.
